Migraines gone while fasting?

Does anyone know if there actually is an explanation to why my migranes and headaches have almost completely gone since I started OMAD fasting 4 weeks ago?

Had migranes every other day almost, but since fasting ive only had 2 smaller headaches!

Answer

Diet changes could address unknown allergies (maybe you stopped eating a specific food?) or hormone related problems (ex: lower eating frequency and/or fewer carbs or at least less sugar can bring insulin down), but getting more sleep, less stress, and probably a bunch of other things that I’m not thinking of could also contribute to this, so improving with the diet changes could actually just be a coincidence. Only in the long term you can really be sure.

I don’t think there is any way to really know but a couple of hypotheses might be reduced inflammation (https://thejournalofheadacheandpain.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s10194-021-01271-1) or reduced insulin resistance from fasting (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1526590022000396). If you started supplementing electrolytes because you were fasting, it’s possible the magnesium is helping?
