I think what I’m doing is a “Dirty Fast”. I don’t eat, for 20hrs, but while I’m “fasting” I allow decaf tea with cream and honey, 80% water 20% juice mixture, and sometimes a beer in the evening. For my “feed” I only eat one plate of food, and don’t eat a ton. The dirty calories amount to < 500 per day.
I choose a 20:1 (odd number) fast so that my “feed” time moves around. Otherwise I seem to have a pavlovian hunger response like when the sun goes down or whatever. For the last few days I’ve found I often forget my feeding window as I’m just not thinking about eating anymore.
I know the dirty calories are cheating, and I’m working on reducing the juice and honey in my liquids. But I found that the little bit of liquid calories keeps the migraines at bay. Likely a sugar/carb withdrawal, but there you go.
Should I just pick a weekend to hold up in my room to try to go cold turkey?
Sounds like you are doing the best you can given circumstances. Managing you health issue should absolutely take pri. 1 imo.
I understand you experimented a bit, and that is great. If you have not already tried these, I would try them:
(I had a neck injury that caused migraines, and sugar helped nearly instantly. My uneducated guess is that this was surely due to tissue expansion as the body stores glucose/glucagon in tissues, thus alleviating nerves or blood vessels being pinched in the neck area, which I read can be a leading cause for headaches and vertigo issues.)
