more difficulty fasting when you're cold?

The temp is lowering where i live and my office hasn’t kept up with the thermostat. I’ll be breaking my weekly 40hr fast this morning and i noticed yesterday having more mental difficulty than before with not wanting to snack. I needed to have at least 4 cups of hot tea just to stay warm, and sometimes needing to re heat the same mug twice! Within 5 min my tea was almost lukewarm. I need a thermos lol.

Is it common for lower temperatures to make fasting more difficult, mentally?

Answer

Yes! The feeling cold was actually a welcomed feeling for me this summer :)

But I agree, as the weather cools down, it’s not as welcome of a feeling.

I find that moving my body, like taking short, fast paced walks in between work and studying really helps me warm up and continue fasting.

Answer

Yeah I’m not cold all the time but now and then I cannot get warm. My feet and hands are the worst, but even my nose freezes. A hot bath (if convenient) is the best. I also have a heater at my feet under my desk.

Answer

Yes. Exercise sets me up pretty good for an hour so I try to stay moving best I can. Sitting at a desk is tough and I avoid it if I can. Also no shame in taking something to the office with you to wrap up in (unless you work directly with the public)

The real struggle for me is I fast for illness reasons and I also cold shower because of that. After day two - those showers are ROUGH. Catch me in the kitchen making something in the oven for the family just so I can warm up…

Yeti tumblers are great for keeping drinks hot or cold. Are you sure your metabolism is not slowing? There was a point where I was always cold and couldn’t eat more than 900 cal a day without gaining weight.
