Mornings

Hello, I am new to IF. I am finding that I really struggle with the mornings, but if I have a very small bulletproof coffee I can make it several more hours until a solid good meal and then several more into my last mea a day. So roughly my “solid” food window is 1p-6p or 1-8 on weekends. Any thoughts on this approach or ideas on how to push myself through the mornings? Thank you!

I have approximately the same eating window as you do. I make sure to eat something fibrous and protein laden for my last meal and then hot tea in the morning. The warmth makes me feel fuller and it’s easier to get through the last few hours of my fast. I like tummy settling teas like turmeric ginger or peppermint. :)

I did the bulletproof coffee thing for my first few years of IF. It still worked well for me. I’ve quit coffee this past year and switched to green or oolong tea without far this past year and it is still good. I think caffeine is an appetite suppressant and it is good to have something to drink to distract myself from eating.

I notice if I’m not busy it is way harder to push through the morning. So staying busy / engaged in something is a strategy I use.
