Have you looked at dry skim milk powder? Check the nutrition facts and see if it meets your needs. It’s effectively whey + casein so maybe not, but I was surprised by how well it met my own needs for so much cheaper than a commercial brand.

I just searched yesterday and settled on one flavor on a special deal at bodybuilding.com. Their house-brand whey protein Fruity Cereal flavor is $43.19 for 5lbs if you take the BodyFit membership trial (was easy to cancel about an hour after the order was placed). If you don’t mind stocking up on one flavor that you’ve never tried, you can get $50 off of $225 with BIG50. I got 5 of those and one of their house brand clear whey isolate. In all, 335 servings for $181.69 before tax.

I don’t have it yet, but I’ve had a few of their regular whey proteins. Chocolate Fudge was mediocre, Oatmeal Cookie was slightly better than mediocre, and Mint Cocoa w/Marshmallows is pretty good. With the rising price of protein, I’m not super picky as long as it doesn’t taste like trash.

I also miss the MP from Costco. Bodybuilding had it a while too. It’s my favorite to mix in with oatmeal for sure (chocolate in a bowl of oatmeal and vanilla in oatmeal protein bars). I think I’m still working through ~10lbs of each but don’t want to drink them since I like them in my food so much and am afraid I won’t be able to get it for a reasonable price again.

Just pay attention to solubility. I’ve tried other cheaper brands and they SUCK. Seriously mixing is a PITA. Dymatize and Muscle Milk. I still want to try others but wasted $ on these brands.

ON is way too expensive but I can’t find something better (yet)…..

Check the scoop sizes. These others scoops need double the powder to get the same amount of protein. That’s the red flag right there.
