Possibly dumb question RE dry lips

Hello everyone

I did a dry fast recently for a few days but I am worried or not whether I accidentally broke it. I did not drink or eat anything and this was a hard dry fast.

During the fast my lips peel and get a bit dry, I like to scratch the dead skin off but should I do this? If I get a little bit of skin in my mouth from licking my lips or something does this cancel the healing effect? Also if I go for a walk I am worried if something tiny in the wind is going to land in my mouth and cancel the fast. Is it a matter of keeping the mouth closed 100% all times?

Sorry if this is a dumb question I tried to search for it but I couldn’t find anything.

Thanks!

Those things are so minor - skin flakes or tiny bugs will not break your fast. Think about it this way - some people do soft dry fasts where they shower and brush their teeth which takes away from the total dry fast a bit, though it is still super beneficial! You don’t have to be freakish about these things because the body knows what to do, so let the mind relax as well.

Keeping your mouth closed is actually fantastic to do if you can because it promotes nose breathing and that helps to detoxify the body :) good luck!

id say its not either/or, its more like a spectrum (up to a certain point) and stuff like what you mention will have no tangible effect on your dry fast (in my opinion). personally i chew gum almost all day long during dry fast, i shower and bathe, brush my teeth etc and i still get all the effects from dry fasting, would it be even more intense if i was super dogmatic about it? maybe? but then i wouldnt be enjoying the process anymore and id just be worrying all day long about swallowing a bug. thats no fun. so up to a certain point you can decide for yourself how strict you want to be.
