Really slow progress

Hi everyone!

I’m a 166 cm, 25 female and I’m familiar with IF for about two years. At the first try I lost about 5 kg with it, but I don’t remember the details, then the pandemic came and I pretty much gave up. I started it over last july, when I were 76 kg. I started with 16:8 and I’m doing 18:6 or 19:5 nowdays. I started to go to the gym at october, now I’m doing 50 minutes aerobic once a week, and like 20 minutes of low intensity (with a phone app) strength training like 3-4 times a week at home. I mostly eat two meals a day and my step count is around 7000 a day. I’m currently 70,8 kg.

I went to a doctor in october, who figured out I have some kind of carbohydrate metabolism disorder, which means, that my blood sugar levels wont rise after I eat, and I also have iron deficiency anemia. Even so the doctor said, that she supports me doing IF, and it is usually good for this kind of metabolism disorder. (This is not really part of my question, just for context.)

I feel like I put a lot of effort to this, still my progress is very slow. I started IF, because I don’t really feel other diets compatible with my lifestyle. I still notice little victories, like my skin is a lot better, and I fit in some of my old jeans again, but I don’t see much difference in the mirror. Also my fiancée says, that I become slimmer, it must be that I don’t loose much weight because I build muscle. But I don’t really think that, also my smartwatch can measure these things, and it doesn’t show much difference, since I got it for Christmas.

A little advice or motivation would help a lot to keep me going. Thanks in advance.

Based on your stats, you’re simply not a very large person. When you have less to lose, it takes longer because we have a smaller caloric deficit that we can (safely) create. I think you’re on a great path however. Generally I found that increasing cardio and decreasing my carbohydrate intake helped me when I hit an extended stall, so that’s a possible option if you feel you’re a little stuck.
