Just wondering if, while doing a pure water fast, if you could use 0 calorie water flavoring. Thanks y’all.
Depending on how long you’re going, you should definitely use electrolytes. As to the flavoring, probably depends on how much you use. I personally don’t think 5 calories spread over 12 hours is going to cause an insulin spike but maybe someone has some research they will post in reply. You’re still not eating or consuming very many calories and depending on what your reasoning is for fasting, you may still get a lot of benefits from it.
It would no longer be a “Pure” fast, and depending on what artificial sweetener is being used, your insulin could still be spiked which would break your fasted state. Make sure you do your research on sweeteners first.
