Specially long term fasts. I’ve done 3 day fasts but want to go longer so please share tips!
One sleep at a time. If it’s anywhere near the end of the day when you want to break (sooner than planned), promise yourself that you can break it as soon as you get up if you’re still really feeling like you want to. Chances are in the morning you won’t feel the urge as strongly, and even if you do at least you tacked on extra 8 hours to your tally.
Get busy! You gotta find something to do with your time. Watch videos, read books, go walking. I would drink tea (not herbal because that breaks your fast) and I would just do something other than thinking about food.
When I’d feel dizzy I would take a pinch of sea salt and take my vitamins so that way I wouldn’t feel the affects of water fasting that much. I’m a little more experienced in my fasting journey (I do 16:8/17:7/18:6/19:5) so prolonged water fasts (24-72 hours) are fine for me.
I’d also recommend taking 1/4 of a lemon in water to break that monotony of water. Have variety in your teas. I drink green tea, earl gray, black, orange pekoe, white oolong, and jasmine
Also, keep a journal. If you feel like you’re failing or you have some emotions coming up then write things down. It’ll help you kill some time and also do a bit of inner work.
So far, I’ve shed 40lbs!
I will never eat / drink anything that contains more than 10 calories on my fast. Just half a bowl of bone broth during my water fast ( on my first attempt of water fasting, day 5 ), and one white egg only ( on my second attempt of water fasting, day 3 ) can causes acid reflux + unusual symptoms on me like stomach pain, strange feeling on head, then my hunger craving come. I dont know if that was because I kicked out of ketosis or something like that. Wish me luck on my fourth water fast attempt tommorow. My target is 40 days.
