Answer

I have been involved in this lifestyle for years now, and been OMAD exclusively for well over 2 years and all of my clinical markers are within normal range. I admittedly do not have these checked as often anymore since I have been at my goal weight for quite a long time, but the last time I did in Oct of 2022 this was still the case, A1C included. The Doc even went so far as to call my markers “boring” since they literally have not budged much in any direction in an eternity.

My food intake on OMAD each day could probably be described as a typical western diet. I don’t count marcos, carbs, calories or anything else anymore. That ship has sailed, and my MFP app is collecting digital dust. I eat for dinner whatever it is my wife is making for everyone else, just in much larger portions, but since we have 2 children under the age of 5 as you might expect my dinners do not consist of boneless chicken breasts and kale salad. Paw Patrol shaped chicken nuggets and tater tots is much more likely.

Answer

It would depend upon how much first phase insulin secretion you have.

Is your fasting insulin elevated ?

Fat and protein DONT raise insulin or blood sugar in significant amounts. Carbs do, especially sugar and processed food like wheat.

Less Carbs, lower blood sugars.
