6th day, no ketosis??

Have been using keto stripes during the last days and I am not even in ketosis?? Today was the first morning I could barely see a pinkish color but I am really surprised as it has been almost 1 week fasting now… (Water, coffee, electrolytes)

Was eating A LOT of carbs prior to fasting, can this delay the start of the ketosis that much? I have also been working out quite a lot during the first days so this should have actually used my glycogen stocks… So I don’t know if my keto strips are no longer usable or if it is something else? I opened the box a few months ago, but the package was closed for a long time..

Keto sticks are notoriously unreliable, and generally if ketones are showing on them it means you’re dehydrated and need to drink more water. I honestly wouldn’t put any faith in them. If you’re on your 6th day of no food and only water/coffee/electrolytes, you’ll be in ketosis without a doubt :)

In addition to what others said, if you have been fasting prior to this, your body may be better adapted to use the ketones being produced. Once your body is adapted to using ketones, it gets more efficient and a lot less is wasted in the urine.
