Add alcohol into daily diet?

I’m a 26yo male with healthy lifestyle: regular exercise, sufficient sleep, no smoking nor drinking. But my alcohol tolerance is very low. I’m thinking about adding alcohol into daily diet, could be a beer, or a glass of wine.

Will that benefit me in terms of inscreasing alcohol tolerance but not being harmful to my body? And if yes, then what should be the suitable amount?

TIA.

It won’t be that harmful but it also won’t increase your tolerance much. There is strong evidence now that there is not really a safe amount of alcohol to drink (besides very low amounts that you wouldn’t feel the effects of). Even one drink a day raises your risk of several types of cancer and even one drink a day has negative effects on your brain. Short on time or I’d add citation, shouldn’t be hard to google though

Answer

Yes and no, tolerance depends on a number of factors, some are genetic and you can’t do anything about it.

That said, provided you don’t have a genetically based tolerance issue, then regularly consuming alcohol should eventually help to increase your tolerance(or at least your ability to not make an ass of yourself, lol).

Generally, wine is a good choice, a glass or two in the evening(preferably red, it has more antioxidants), it goes well with a variety of foods too.

You can mix it up with some stronger alcohol if you want now and then, as some people have a different sensitivity to different types of alcohol.

Drink beer if you want.. It’s cheap at least

So maybe instead of focusing on increasing tolerance, maybe try getting to know what ingredients and spirits your intolerant to?

If your going out for a casual drink and meal with friends and throwing up then something is off. In this way you might have to be more aware of your body and also ‘how to drink’ in general. Are you eating enough during the day? Are you staying hydrated?

For example, I take medications that don’t interact well with alcohol and I am not a regular drinker, so like you, I have basically no tolerance. Occasionally I do like to have a drink with friends/dinner/holiday etc. and just have to be strategic about it lol

I’ve found I don’t tolerate beer well at all so I just stopped trying and gave up on it bc it made me bloated and nauseous. Heavy tannins/red wine like Cab gives me headaches etc. After some trial and error I found ‘my’ drinks, my brands and a few cocktails/ingredients that I tolerate well and can order if I’m out with friends/holiday etc.

I suggest something similar for you. Don’t try to train yourself to be an iron stomach, really not good for your health! But do a little trial and error at home maybe a couple nights a week to see what you tolerate well and enjoy. Don’t start with whiskey and heavy IPAs or whatever either! Maybe try 1 glass of a softer/less acidic red wine with dinner at home. See how you feel after. Or if your into beer maybe try one of those pale ale/Belgian blonde type ales. Try to test out simple mixed drinks like gin and tonic or basic margarita etc.
