Advice for a Beginner in intermittent fasting?

I’m used to fasting every Ramadan, so I’m thinking that I might do okay with intermittent fasting. Can anyone suggest me a good source/YouTube channel where they break down the DOs & DON’Ts for intermittent fasting? And what is your experience with it?

PS. I’m starting tomorrow with a 20/4h one, since I work from 11-7pm so I thought I’ll just do a 20h one and get used to drinking only water because Ramadan is starting at the end if the month but my main goal is lose weight. I’m F 25, 171cm aka 5’7 (I think) and I weight 71kg now, used to weight 56-58kg one year ago. Last question, would it be healthy to lose 15-20kg? I also workout x4 times a week & try to stay consistent. I think my only problem is the fact I don’t go a day without satisfying my sweet tooth.

Thank you

I would suggest that you read Gin Stephen’s “Fast.Feast.Repeat” it’s very insightful. As to your concerns: i think if you just cut back on the sweets, which will ultimately happen as you will be doing intermittent fasting, and try to have a calorific deficit in your diet, you will be able to lose weight. As for your goal: it will take some time to loose the weight, especially for us women, our cycles impact the water weight in our bodies, so don’t get discouraged!! I guess 0,5kg-1kg is the range you can loose within a week if you really are consistent with managing your caloric intake. For you weight goal i suggest you look up if it is within a healthy bmi range.

I will also be fasting during ramadan and you will notice that intermittent fasting will prepare you very well for ramadan fasting! Mentally and physically!
