Intermittent Fasting Advice

Hi all, I’ve recently started intermittent fasting for 16-18 hours of the day (6-8 hours eating time).

The main thing I want to know is if my preworkout I have in the morning will break my fast.

It has less then a gram of Carbs and like 20 calories per serve. I don’t believe it has any sweeteners in it, but does have 150 Is there any other chemicals or substances that tend to break a fast?

I’m happy to link to the product if people require

Answer

“Technically” any calories, even 1, breaks a fast. HOWEVER practically, I’ve found below 50 has a small effect, if any at all. I’ve found long fast, e.g. 44-48h, with nothing but water and the same with 30-50 electrolyte based calories. I saw no difference except one kept me feeling better, naturally I have EXTREMELY low potassium. TBH, I think it’s a good idea so long as it has electrolytes. Otherwise, I don’t see that much of a point.
