Advice starting a 20:4 fast

(M18, 225Lbs, 5”9)

I get home everyday around 4pm, and try to go to sleep around 11pm-12am, so I’m starting a 20:4 fast where I’ll have a small meal when I get home around 4pm, then a larger meal around 8pm. I just wanted to see if this routine is healthy/sustainable, and how much I should be losing/how I should feel during the day to know if it’s healthy or if I need to alter my routine.

The one piece of advice which comes to my mind is maybe start with a week of 16:8, then a week of 18:6, and then step up to 20:4.

Otherwise I think I’d be overwhelmed by cravings and it would be too much too soon.

You are going to be doing this for a year or 6 months, so there’s no need to smash into the warrior schedule so fast.

Oh, the other bit of advice is: You WILL give in to cravings sometimes. Just forgive yourself and start again tomorrow.

Sounds great!

You will find this very easy to do, if your diet is already moderate in ‘fast carbs’ compared to fat and protein. If you find it a bit hard to do, then increasing fat and protein, particularly for the final meal, will make it much easier.

Oh and first week is always the hardest. Some stumbles are to be expected. If so, just try again next day. You can do this for sure!
