Almost under 200lbs for the first time in ten years

I’ve been learning how to do IF for about six months and taking slow and I’m down 25lbs. For a woman with PCOS and inability to lose more than 5 lbs for the last ten years , 25 lbs is HUGEEEEEEE. I’m very proud of myself. As I get closer to weighing under 200 I notice myself get a little scared. Scared of regaining, scared that I won’t be able to maintain … scared it’ll be all like all the other times I’ve tried. Any words of wisdom ? Anyone else out there experience this when you start to have success !?!? Thanks y’all

I think that the fact that you’ve been going slow and steady is key. IF has become a habit by now, right? :)

If I were you I would listen to some episodes from the podcast The Fasting Method. They’re all good, but in one of the episodes with Terri Lance as a guest, they talk about “holding patterns”. That is, a routine that you can go into when life throws stressful events at you. Like holidays or a crisis or whatever. For me, the holding pattern is time-restricted eating (TRE) where I fast 14h and have an eating window for 10. That’s pretty easy for me. I typically don’t lose weight doing that but I don’t gain much either (as long as I don’t go wild with the eating). But doing 14h is something and it makes it easier to carry on with 16, 18, 20h when I eventually feel less stressed and can focus on fasting again.

As long as you keep at it, you’ll keep making progress! Clearly this is a method that works for you, so if you’re consistent and when you reach maintenance, have a sustainable routine, you’ll be good. Slow and steady weight loss is also usually more likely to stay off. Congrats on what you’ve already achieved!

Congrats on the major weighloss! I’ve lost 30 lbs since March and I know I will never go back to where I was. I know I can maintain at 16-8 and lose with OMAD. You need to figure out what works with your body and what your goals are. Don’t sweat the small fluctuations but hold yourself accountable by keeping a weekly log of your weight, even once a week. Keep up the good work 👍

First of all congratulations on your weight loss! You need to stay current with the science about weight loss, nutrition, exercise, IF, omad, carnivore, keto, even veganism… also be mindful of what you did to loose the weight when it works with little to no struggle stay with it. When you stall this is an indication you need an adjustment in your process. One thing is for sure never go back to how you used to eat.
