Any SWEs do TMAD? When do you lift for the most focus?

I feel like something not discussed in dieting is the stress of work, espepcially the mental stress and rigor of different professions impact on diet. i find myself without consciously thinking grabbing snacks as i ‘take a break’ between meals due to some stress from coding or the like. I’ve been working out after work, but feel mentally tired to start somedays, and was shocked to see my weight have gone up in the last two months. sleep quality also not bad but can be a good bit better. need to wake up earlier?

What are your workout and meal timings? How did you sleep change with TMAD?

Answer

I’m on my fourth week of TMAD. I usually eat at 12pm and 7pm. I don’t work out but will incorporate that slowly. So far I’ve lost 10-12 lbs. I find it easier to not eat during work hours since I’m distracted with work. Drinking plain tea/coffee really helps though.

I code and drink coffee in the morning. Usually hit a stopping point around 1pm or so, e.g. have to kick off a build or run some tests or whatever. So I go for a run, which helps me fast just a little bit longer. Running on an empty stomach feels better anyway. Then I eat lunch when I get back.

On days when I’m super busy, I can just fast the whole day. Kinda nice not having to worry about food
