I currently do two 24h fasts a week for a variety of reasons. I’m looking to do a 48h one just to see what the difference is to me.
Aside from topping up electrolytes, any tips for the slightly longer fast?
Adding to that other comment, it’s true that hunger subsides, and pretty quickly too. It may become quite insane, specially in the morning of the 2nd day, but it goes away fairly quickly and at that point hitting 48 hrs won’t turn out to be too difficult.
I’m at around 27 hrs out of 48 as we speak. I had some chamomile tea and if I get too hungry later today I’ll chew some gum. That typically helps. Lemon water is my third go-to if hunger strikes again.
I think you will find the biggest hurdle is purely mental. Day 2 is also when your hunger is going to start to spaz out, but if you ignore it that will subside as well. Many people assume that hunger is a sensation that builds in intensity over time but that is simply false. The exact opposite is true in fact.
Just go into it with the frame of mind that you are hitting your 48 no matter what and ignore any negative headspace and you will be fine. Upon conclusion I think you will find it was not as much of a hurdle as you expected it would be.
