I'm going to try 20hr fasting from tomorrow, any tips?

I just finished my period and gained a lot of water weight, ate a lot as well and I feel confused and foggy in general.

Would like to get back on track and onto better paths. Any advice?

How long should I do this fast for? Should I continue even on my period?

(I usually stop eating after 6pm and aim to eat after 8am. I rarely have carbs but this week has just been a carb fest.)

Right before you’d normally break your fast drink a big glass of water and make a cup of green tea.

When the eating habit trigger kicks in i need to start something new. New work task, new shopping trip, pick up my guitar, take kids to the park. You don’t get more hungry, it’s just about distracting yourself through that first trigger. That give me control and choice.

It’s much easier to get to 20 than I thought. It’s basically the same as getting to 16. Getting to 21 or 22 is basically the same as getting to 16. You got this.

I remind myself I’m delaying eating not denying myself. If something sounds super good I’ll plan for it in my window.

I’ve been doing 20:4 for the past like 8 days due to period and work stress (was doing 40:8 before). I’ve been craving chipotle, so today at 1:30pm (end of 20 hours) I will get a chipotle bowl and chow down.

Planning to do a 48hr fast from Sunday - Tuesday of this week and then go back to my 20:4 schedule.

My triggering time is around 4-6pm (by triggering I mean I get all the ‘it’s dinner time let’s eat’ signals because that is my habit), if I have to be fasting during that time and haven’t eaten I go for a 1 hour walk and then take a 1 hour bath

Distractions are your friend, drinking lots of water, especially when you get a feed me signal. And just knowing you can do this, mind over matter, do a guided meditation from YouTube and dig deep!!
