Reading a page online, one dies without drinking and eating after about 10 days. Since so many do the dry fasting, I wanted to know, what is the number of days that actually sends a person off?.
Answer
I have dry fasted alot. Never died once.
Serious non sugar coated answer. If you cant guage your own body and understand the difference between a craving and an emergency you should not do it. As long as you have body fat you have a ton of stored water on you. The record for a dry fast is like 18 days. I used to be be one of those people who just took those sayings at face value(oh you cant go more than 3 days without water). Now i know the actual science and facts.
Answer
I’ve dry fasted for 9. 5 days. How can it be safe? If what you ask of your body doesn’t exceed what it can give.
Same way a marathon can be safe for someone and deadly to another.
Have someone dry fast for 2 days in the desert he’ll die.Have me dry fast at home for several days, without stress, ideal température, knowledge and training in fasting : it won’t be too hard.
Your body can produce (from fat and inner fluids like lymph) and absorb from the air, a certain quantity of water per hour.
If you make your body need more water than it can produce (by sweating or exercising instead of resting) it’ll be harder. If you make it need the least amount possible (by sleeping a lot, staying in a cool room) or if you make it absorb water through the skin (by walking in a humid forest or having a shower) it will be easier.
If you’re young, healthy, are used to fasting, it’ll be easier too.
And so on…
I hope I was able to convey the logic to you.

So a few thoughts on this:
- There is a guy on Insta and YouTube with username fasting_with_trevor who claims to have done dry fasts for more than 20 days. It is always good to approach these things with scepticism but he drops a huge amount of weight despite being very lean and looks like he has been experiencing hardships - looks great after refeeding though.
- Dr. Filonov recommends 11 days of fasting as the maximum but only when real healing is needed and that anything over 5 days should be done with medical supervision.
- I take the potential dangers of dry fasting very seriously, but dying of dehydration during a dry fast is the one that worries me the least. I believe that most people would give in and drink water before they got to that point.
- I think the things that people need to be more worried about is 1) heart problems, always pay attention to your heart rate, if it is more than 120 for more than a few minutes stop. 2) low blood sugar, look up the symptoms of this online, but generally if you’re feeling disoriented, dizzy, confused, time to stop the dry fast.
- In fact that is the really important thing with dry fasting, you need to be hyper vigilant and learn to understand your body. What is a sign that you’re healing? What is a sign that you’ve been fasting too long? Also don’t assume that just because you did great with a 7 day fast last time that you’re not having problems on a 2 day fast this time.
- Most importantly, do some research. There are a lot of people here who are asking about stuff that is continuously be discussed in this sub. The reason why I think this is so important is because I see so many people misunderstand some of the information out there, the only way to be sure is to go to the source material. Really, there are really only 2 main credible books on this subject, plus one piece of good research, there are also some YouTube videos on Dr Filonov. At least go through the basics.
Answer
I would guess about 20 days without food and water and you would likely be dead. Btw, check out the study on the sidebar. A group of regular people went 5 days without food or water and were fine. They even showed improved kidney function among other things.
