cheat meals

Hi all,

I have been on IF for nearly 2 weeks now 16/8 with some 20//4, stayed low carb and lost about 16 pounds.

How do you all handle cheat meals? I feel like I would like some indian food, so that means some breads and rice.

Do you find that this sets back your progress?

Answer

If you count the meal as part of your daily caloric goals, then there’s nothing wrong with it. Even if you go over your calories, it won’t be a big deal.

If it’s outside of your usual eating window, but it’s important to you, then go for it. Again, no big deal.

So if it’s important to you, and you can plan for it, have fun and enjoy the time and the food. But if you can incorporate these meals as part of your diet, all the better.

Answer

If the meal is in my eating window, then I wouldn’t consider it a cheat. I am not doing low carb, but I am doing no added sugar and on the rare occasion that I plan to eat sugar, I will just make sure I do so in my regular eating window and will not consider it as cheating. I think it’s ok as long as it’s not often.

Answer

You could just skip the rice and/or naan. I LOVE naan so usually eat some of that but instead of rice, I just have a curry and order an extra veggie side to have and no rice – mmmm, bhindi masala.

My motto is progress not perfection. I try to make foods work bc I want this to be a lifestyle. It may take a little longer but the naaan is totally worth it ;)
