Coffee while fasting

I love sugar free coffee in the morning, but been having stomach issues after starting 18:6 fasts during weekdays, probably because I drink it with an empty stomach, I have been feeling an acid build up and even reflux sometimes. Anything I can do to continue fasting and drinking coffee in the morning with an empty stomach?

Answer

bro science guesses

chug a glass of water so the coffee has a good amount of liquid to fall into

also read that cold brew coffee is supposed to be less acidic and easier to handle for the gut

and also the obvious ones, limit the volume off coffee as well as the strength of it

Answer

I switched to half caf, and a medium roast. I can drink two 10oz mugs without an acidic-feeling stomach. If I’m feeling super coffee-needy I may have another cup, but I add in a small amount of half n half, which is dirty fasting, but seems to do the trick. Most of the time I’m able to pivot to tea and still get the comforting aspects of clutching a mug and sipping something hot while not irritating my stomach.

I like decaf black vanilla tea, peppermint and decaf or reg green tea. The black vanilla feels closer to coffee, somewhat, in giving a stronger flavor than green or mint.
