Do you talk about fasting to your friends & family?

If you’ve already talked about fasting to other people, you know it’s not always easy, I’m curious if you ladies talk about it with your surroundings, and how you handle it.

I’m actually getting more active on Reddit and joined a Discord server to talk about fasting there. It’s just my husband and I at home and he struggles to be supportive with this because he doesn’t trust the science behind it and worries it’s unsafe (I do modified ADF currently). I know it upsets him but this is working for me and I trust its safe, so I’m sticking to it. We’re mostly just avoiding the topic with one another.

I don’t really discuss it much with anyone else I know. I hate talking about weight loss with my mom and sister. I also don’t have any close friends who I’d feel comfortable discussing my weight loss with. I’m kind of just trying to keep it to myself and if anyone brings up my weight loss as it becomes more noticeable I’ll probably just say I’m eating less and moving more without getting into detail.

One of my close friend fast, so it was easy with her. I was upfront and told my mother, partner and other close friends and shared the r/intermittentfasting sub with them. Everyone was receptive except my mother, she’s still worried and doesn’t want me to fast.

I always emphasize that I make sure I’ve got my recommended calories in for the day before I begin a fast. I mention giving my body a break from digesting food, and the health benefits I’m after. Some just don’t like or understand IF, and I do assert that it’s been positive for me and we agree to disagree.
