Does anyone else get intense cravings within the first 24 hours?

I usually fast for 48 to 72 hours a week, and I honestly feel just fine while doing so. The problem is, I often fail to reach past the 48-hour mark because I get intense cravings within the first 24 hours, especially at night. Sometimes I can ignore them and complete the second and third days just fine, without experiencing any cravings or discomfort, but sometimes I end up breaking my fast and feeling incredibly disappointed in myself. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing difficulties mainly on the first day. And why would this happen? Am I doing something wrong?

Answer

I’ve done several 24h - 48h fasts in the least two months and found out that whenever I have more carbs before I start fasting, the fasts are harder to push through - I mostly give up after 20h max. It’s only when I’m careful with carbs for a few meals before fasting, that the fasts feel at ease for me. Though I still have the cravings, always at 20-24h and then again at the end of a 48h fast. Haven’t gone longer yet
