Does anyone IF without using a scale?

I’m on day 8 and tbh I don’t really want to use a scale. I hate hyper focusing on numbers and would rather go based on the way my pants fit.

Answer

Depending on your body sometimes you can tell better by how you feel and how your clothes fit rather than the numbers on a scale. Everyone measures progress at their own pace. If you feel using a scale will become a focus do what’s best for your mental health.

Answer

I’m on the opposite spectrum. I weigh myself every day (I don’t get caught up in the number, body weight fluctuates an insane amount). I log it in MyFitnessPal because I love data and I like seeing the trends. The down trend is what makes me feel good, not so much the actual number.

Answer

The scale can be super misleading, especially if you weigh yourself often. It’s very easy to have “gained 1lb since yesterday” when in reality you just had a bit more salt yesterday or had an especially hard workout. The way I find works for me best is to go off measurements and pictures.

Answer

Since I’ve always been skinny and fat at the same time, I’ve been doing some cardio / toning / strength exercise in addition to IF, and seem to have sprouted a muscle or two. The clothes-fit test and the eye test are what inspires me to continue.

Answer

I had to force myself to not use a scale (I’m a newbie at IF, not at exercise and working out). I have so many other metrics that are more important than a scale: how well do my clothes fit, how strong am I, has my athleticism improved, etc?
