I need to make a drastic change in my life. My physical and mental health is spiraling downward. The biggest shock came yesterday- my doctor had to put me on blood pressure medication at 37 years old. Im 6’3” and 285. I need to be here for a long time. Not just for me, but mostly for my 2-year old son. Wish me luck as I start my IF journey today and thanks to you all for being awesome and inspiring me to make a change.
What’s really cool is you got the opportunity to make some changes before it got too late! You can do it my friend! All you’re doing with intermittent fasting is delaying food for a little while until it’s time to eat. THATS IT! You’ve got this, and can’t wait to read about your progress!
I strongly recommend eating healthy, counting your calories to make sure you’re at a caloric deficit, and working out.
These things along with IF can help a lot!
Once you are consistent with good habits, you should see great improvements in your mood.
I’m 6’3 and 62yo. 2 years ago was a mess. I got there and have kept the weight off. Blood pressure was 140/90, now it’s 115/70, doctor has probably forgotten what I look like…. just drop any sugar and ultra processed ‘food’, add exercise and it will come naturally..
Just stay with it. I started IF and CICO in mid August because my doctor wrote me a script for high blood pressure and I didn’t fill it. I decided to try to lose weight to get my HBP down to normal. I’ve lost almost 18 pounds and my pressure is back in the normal range (my BMI too)!
I CAN RELATE…. I’m 34yo male, 6’4 and have floated between 290 and 320lbs since around 2013 (post collegiate athletic years). In late 2016 I read the Obesity Code (plus a handful of other books) while thoroughly researching Ketosis and other physiological topics of how the different systems of our bodies work - ironically was the same year my first son was born. I experimented various intermittent fasting routines off and on from 2017 to 2021 - floating between 270 and 290lbs.. it was a struggle at the beginning, yet fascinating, to experience the many hormonal, mental, and physical phenomenon that would occur throughout all of my IF “experiments”. Through those years, I got to deeply learn so much about the imaginary limits I had about my own body, and my mind even. I learned the clear difference between real hunger, and just the desire to eat.. I learned about my own food addictions and how to control them.. and so much more!
By the beginning of this year (2022) I had a solid grasp of how (and when) to properly fuel my body and FEEL good.. So I combined that with regular, and consistent, workout cycles - different 6, 8, and 12 week routines that have completely re-sparked my athleticism and desire to do physical activities. Now I’m at 245lbs - which I haven’t weighed this much since highschool!
My journey still continues! I wish yours the best! 🙏
