Fasting while taking vitamin D

After a blood test showed my vitamin D levels to be critically low I’ve been put on 6000 units of vitamin D3 per day. I want to continue doing 72s but I’ve been told that I need to eat fatty foods in order for my body to absorb the vitamins. Is this true or should I just fast?

Answer

Use a clean fat source as food to absorb the vitamin d. Look into every possible vitamin d boost you can achieve from diet and lifestyle changes to take the toll off the meds.

One of my favorite “life hacks” is letting mushrooms rest in the sun to increase its vitamin d levels. Very interesting.

Best of luck.

Answer

You could make it a “dirty” fast. Have a type of fat when you take the vit D. Butter, ghee, lard, coconut oil, etc. You could even make brown butter which I’ve heard is delicious. I don’t know what would be a good amount, maybe 1 or 2 tbsp? This may interrupt autophagy, but if you’re not fasting for that, it should work ok. That way you get the vit D and you can still ‘mostly’ fast.
