Getting Back Into Fasting After Break?

I spent a few months doing rolling 48s with the occasional 72 in there. I stopped going crazy in early June and just threw in 1-2 36-48 per week. But that fell off after a couple of weeks. I’ve put on roughly 10 pounds from not dieting and I’m trying to bring fasting back into my routine.

I just moved to a new city and I’ve been going out a lot, drinking, trying new food, and whatnot. Finding it hard to bring fasting back in as everytime I setup a fast I end up breaking it after 24hrs with some random justification.

When you guys find yourself in a bad routine what are your methods of kicking yourself out of it? I find that once I get a little bit of momentum things become easy but I keep failing to get that momentum.

First of all don’t knock yourself for falling into a bit of a slump. Being in a new city is a lot on its own so exploring the new food and bars is a reasonable thing to do.

As for getting that momentum back, I’m not sure what your refeeds looked like while you were fasting but I would highly suggest trying keto (just to get the momentum going). I have a similar regime to you, and found it to be easiest when I was on keto. There wouldn’t be any cravings or hunger pains. If you want to make it as easy as possible on yourself, take a few days before you start fasting and put yourself into ketosis first. Going into a fast already far adapted takes away alot of the struggles.

TLDR: Try Keto. It typically makes fasting easier to get into and easier to sustain. Adjust once you have your momentum back.

I’ve found OMAD most helpful. I can go out, socialize a bit and not suffer weight gains. I have naturally cut down on drinking. OMAD is simple. I don’t have much to keep track of. If, on occasion, I have to do lunch or brunch, I do it and get back on my regular lifestyle the next day.
