Hair loss with weight loss.

I’ve noticed since I started losing weight that I am losing a lot of hair. It seems to just be getting worse. My hair volume has halved. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? Is this normal with cico and fasting? How long before my hair starts to thicken again? Am I lacking particular vitamins or minerals? Do I just wait it out?

I’ve been on a calorie deficit and intermittent fasting eating plan since September but the hair loss has been noticeable since about May/June, weight loss and healthy eating eating started around February/March.

I’m eating a variety of veggies, proteins, legumes and some carbs.

Any advice to improve my thinning hair would be appreciated. I have been to a doctor for a full check up and bloods a few months back and everything was good. So there are no medical issues present.

No advice, but just some commiseration. I am having the same thing happen with my hair as well. I haven’t developed any bald spots but I’ve probably lost 2/3 of my hair volume. I no longer have the amount of hair needed to use some of my favorite hair forks. It’s really disconcerting.

I’ve also not had anything flagged with any of my blood test either.

I’m taking a multivitamin and biotin, but can’t really say if it’s helping yet.

I am curious why this happens too… It did not happen to me with IF but I heard about it happening for others so I was concerned it might. I have pretty short hair, but it is not falling out or thinning. I hope this is the worst side effect of IF for you because it sounds temporary… Good luck and if you have success, please come back and share!
