Answer

It really depends but it is supposed to. You will want to transition slowly. Your body will be physically stressed if you try too quickly. I was getting depressive symptoms since I went too quickly lowering calories. I feel solid now that I’m adapted. Dont have to take as much anti depressant since my energy is better and cravings for terrible food items are severely diminished. We will see how it goes as time goes on for longer term effects.

I’d love to remember where I saw the specific article but there IS evidence of a gut-brain axis. Our gut bacteria can cause us to have mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. If you aren’t experiencing either due to hormonal imbalances I would look into slowly transitioning into a 36-48hr fast. Then reset your body via refeeds on very nutritious food.

I personally do have anxiety but it’s task based. I don’t think it’s better or worse specifically but I do find I’m able to overcome irrational thoughts easier. I still have bad days here and there but nothing substantial.
