How do I stick to my fast when my all my friends do is eat?

My friends don’t know that I fast (I don’t think they’d fully support it so I don’t feel comfortable telling them) and are always asking me to eat with them. I always end up breaking my fast to do this with them. Or I get worried that they will think I’m anorexic, so I make a point of eating around them, breaking my fast. What do I do?

How often do you see them? I would just eat with them if it’s not literally everyday. Or say you already ate every once in awhile, but not every time. It’s not worth losing your happiness or relationships over.

Answer

Well, Lent just started so you can use that as an excuse, even if you aren’t religious, you can say you want to try it just once in your life.

Or you can suggest non food activities with your friends or go to places that have non food related stuff like darts, pool table, etc?

Orrr say you don’t feel up for eating because you have a stomach bug.

We could make a whole game out of excuses but ultimately you should be around people you can be honest with who love and support your decisions, even if they are not the same as their own.
