How many days a week should I IF?

As the title states I am curious on how many days a week will be good enough for fasting can I go 2-3 days a week and use the rest for eating like a 5:2 4:3 etc and is 12 hrs a good starting point to have for a few weeks I did one today for an appointment and I felt all of the benefits one gets from a fast increased energy productivity and a sound mind/skin.

So I wonder if 12:12 fair game then I want to know cuz I been trying to lose weight and it’s been real stubborn.

Depends on your constitution, your skill level, and your preparation. I’d say start small and learn about fasting by reading the FAQs. Immerse yourself in what it means to fast, and why, and always fast safely. Then gradually push yourself.

I started by eating keto. Eventually I cut myself back from 3 meals per day to 2, and then eventually down to one meal per day. This was a gradual and natural progression over about 6 months.

These days, as a seasoned faster I take a much more extreme approach. I’ve done several 7 day fasts and a few 14 day fasts, my peak at 20 days. What works best for me may not be best for you.

Currently I eat carnivore which has healed many of my ailments, not the least of which was my addiction to simple carbs, but also many digestive maladies.

I pair this approach with extended fasting. I fast for three+ days and have a meal or two, and then fast for 2+ days and have a meal or two. Since late May, I’m down 30 pounds, and only have another 35 to go.

Fasting can be simple. It can also be incredibly complex. Do whatever approach makes sense for where you are right now, and just take it a day at a time. You likely didn’t gain the weight you have in less than a year. Be patient with your body as you learn to love it and heal it through food abstinence. Good luck on your journey.
