I always see younger people here. Does this work in middle age?

I tried IF a few years ago with no real success. Since then, I’ve noticed, perhaps not comprehensively, that successful posters here tend to be ~30 and under. It could be bc old people like me (ha) aren’t on Reddit. Has anyone middle-aged had success with IF? Would love to hear your experience.

I just turned 73. For me it’s about the numbers coming back from the semiannual blood tests. Weight loss was a happy coincidence. True benefit was metabolic health, being no longer pre-diabetic. Over four years I lost 70 pounds and 4 waist line inches. Over the last year, after relaxing carbohydrate discipline, I have gained back just under 20 pounds. I’m still doing mostly IF 20-4 or OMAD some days randomly, but only because it’s a good habit for me.

I started IF in 2020, when I was 57. Nothing extreme, just 16/8, but I lost 45 lbs in 6 months. I did plateau, which has happened with every diet I’ve ever tried, but I’ve maintained that loss for 3 years now. (Still 16/8.)

I turned 61f last month. I lost 61 pounds. Went keto or low carb then did IF. Did a lot more 48/72 hours the first 5 months then OMAD. So basically at maintenance but I keep going up and down 2 pounds either way. Started a 48 hours fast last night with the intention of mixing up my fasting days and times to help move the needle downward. Would like my weight to stay at 107/108 vs 109/110.
