I just wanted to share this for anyone on the fence.
I started out:
-24, Obese (5’5, 183 lbs, BMI just over 30).
-Horrible PCOS, didn’t have a menstrual cycle for a year and my doctor said my hormone levels were like a menopausal woman’s.
-High cholesterol.
-Prediabetic blood sugar and A1C.
-Awful daily migraines.
What I did:
-Just had breakfast and lunch and skipped dinner. Diet tbh was still unhealthy until recently.
-Reduced my carb intake (insulin resistance is a REAL thing for women with PCOS - they literally give diabetes meds to women w PCOS).
NOW:
-25, Healthy weight (148 lbs, ~24 BMI)
-PCOS symptoms have disappeared and my hormones are normal for a young, healthy woman.
-Cholesterol levels are normal
-Blood sugar is normal even when not fasting
-Migraines have virtually disappeared
I want to emphasize that I did not change my diet much. It was still unhealthy (burgers, cheese, etc). I just reduced my carbs and skipped dinner.
It was that easy.
Super interesting for me as a PCOS woman who’ll be going off birth control pills next month and will have to manage my condition via diet! Can you tell me a little more about the changes you’ve introduced to your diet? Any good tips for a newbie low-carb(ish) enthusiast?
