Is anyone in this group getting results from 12:12?

I’m a recovering alcoholic and I’m only on my second sober week so I’m trying to take it easy on myself for now. I’m eating more sugar and bigger portions since I quit drinking. Will I have any progress with 12:12 or am I dreaming here? I plan to improve my diet in the upcoming weeks. Thanks!

Answer

I have no real IF advice, just encouragement and love. I’m sure the adjustment of alcohol to no alcohol in and of itself will be hard enough, on top of dietary changes. Perhaps Journaling what you eat and drink, what your fasting periods are, and how you feel during points in each day will better help you with this adjustment period also? To identify patterns and correlations, and Tobe mindful about not switching out one addiction for another? Just a thought :)

Answer

IF can definitely help reset a relationship with food. I have seen some studies that keto is helpful to many who are quitting addictions, might be worth checking out?

The book Food Junkies and podcast by the same name are interesting, author is an addiction medicine doc. She discusses the common pattern of swapping one addictive behavior for another.

Good luck to you!
