Is it a good idea to do OMAD everyday?

Considering that your body adapts by reducing metabolic rate after some time of caloric deficit, wouldn’t it be better/more sustainable to do OMAD every other day, as some sort of calorie cycling? Or is it simply worth the discipline? Thanks in advance.

Answer

Your body will not reduce your metabolic rate when you fast. When you consistently do OMAD, you will start to pull your needed energy from fat. This is the key to biohacking your metabolism. You have all of the energy you need from fat stores.

Doing OMAD is the best way to make sure you switch from glycolysis (glucose burning) to ketosis (fat burning). The body does not sense any caloric deficit and subsequently will not lower your metabolic rate.

I am doing 22:2 IF but basically having only a meal a day and I am losing around 600-900g per day (started at 108kg currently at 103.9KG in 5 days). I was an unhealthy eater, snacking on everything I can and to be completely honest it is taking all of my willpower not to revert back to my old ways (think Edward in Twilight controling his thirst for Bella). But, it feels like it gets easier everyday. I do not feel tired or hungry since the meal that I do eat contains a bit of everything (protein, carb, salad, dessert) and it lasts me until my next meal. My primary goal is weight loss and if you wanma go for it, give it a shot!

Answer

You body adapts to OMAD by pulling more energy from burning body fat, not by lowering your metabolic rate.

I do OMAD everyday, maybe twice a month I do 2MAD. I have had great physical and mental benefits from daily OMAD.
