Is it safe to just jump right in?

I’ve only ever got up to 20 or 24 hours once or twice, now I’d like to do a 4 or 5 day dry fast.. is it safe to just jump right in or do I have to do anything before hand? I have drank much water today so I may be a bit dehydrated, should I drink 2 or 3 litres first and then do it?

Answer

I just tried a 5 day starting Friday, i lasted 3 days due to extreme nausea. You could probably jump right in but I’d recommend clearing your system first ! I’ve restarted my 5 day and feel a lot better now

In my view its best to hydrate up and then have big meal with a lot of meat+volume to make you sated for the time ahead. When you strat from a bad place, already hungry and run down, it makes it that much harder

Clearly imagine going the full 5 days, or even imagine 10 days, and think a good 4 separate times ‘I’m going to fast 10 days and it will be easy the whole time’ and picture what that would be like to prepare your brain for what to think I think makes it a lot easier,

When you fail, its always worth noting why you fail and writing it down so you collect the types of things. One thing I noticed was I failed when I ‘just rolled into it’, so now I make sure I have something like big cheese burger and fries before it starts

If you’re hungover - dehydrated, loads of sugar, hungry for example it goes pretty badly in my experience

Answer

Can you jump right in a marathon? Sure. May it go well for you? Sure.

Is it safe? Depends. How well do you know yourself. How is you health. Do you have weaknesses. What’s your running history. Etc.

Same for fasting
