Not getting enough food

I’m wondering what most people do in this situation. If you are at the end of, or past the end of, your eating window and haven’t eaten all the calories or whatever for the day, do you extend your eating window? Do you just eat less that day? Is there a best practice?

Answer

If your goal is weight loss and you feel ok then I would just eat less that day.

If youre trying to recomp (gain muscle while losing fat) then make sure that you hit your protein goal and dont worry as much about total calories.

If youre trying to gain then I’d extend the eating window that day but also take a look at how often youre having to modify the window and maybe look at higher calorie foods earlier in the window?

Answer

Some would argue that it is better to go under your calorie limit some days and over others because the body can get too used to doing the same thing again and again. I would suggest trying out low calorie some days (not consecutive days) and seeing what happens since all bodies are different.

Answer

Depends if I’m hungry or not. If I’m hungry or feeling tired or cold, I’ll extend my window a little and eat something. If i feel fine then I’ll just start my fast and not worry about it. If i don’t eat all my calories occasionally it balances out hungry days when i want to eat more. As long as I’m eating enough on average and getting everything i need over a week, I’m not going to worry about the odd day being out of whack.
