On sites like Cronometer/NutritionPal, is the weight ONLY about the edible part of the food?

Is it ignoring or not the peels, shells, seeds, etc.?

E.g. do I have to ignore 33% of the bananas’ weight that I bought?

Answer

Usually only the edible part, as opposed to thawed/cooked where the time that you measured matters. Bananas are kind of tricky unless you’re fully unpeeling them and putting them on a scale, which if you’re a grab and go person you’re not going to do, but most people in a database can find a general “medium banana” or one that gives a length if you’re trying to get as close as possible. Seeds don’t really matter (like the ones in a cucumber), they’re not going to add that much weight.
