Question about fasting

I am relatively new to intermittent fasting. I know that sparking water, still water, black coffee, and plain tea can be consumed during a fast. I was curious if sugar-free/low calorie gum can be chewed during fasts? For example, I love “5” gum and it has 5 kcal per stick. Would this break my fast or would it be okay to have in moderation?

Answer

Some people think anything under 25/50cal won’t break a fast, some think that anything about 0 cal will break a fast.

Fasting has many different benefits. If you’re looking to fast for mostly weight loss then no it won’t affect that goal/benefit.
