Splenda, 0 calorie sweet drinks and insulin spike

I have been enjoying my fasting regiment, which is a twice weekly 47 hour fast. However, I was listening to something health related where it was said that ingesting 0 calorie sweetners like splenda, stevia, sucralose, etc, even though there is no calories, the sweet taste creates an insulin spike in the body. Since my goal is to fix my metabolic syndrome and to lose the fat, due to said syndrome, I am really concerned here.

Does anyone have any information on this? By eating very low carb, I have not had any carb cravings, so that isn’t an issue for me. However, if my insulin is being jacked up this can lead to possible future issues.

Answer

I’m in the same boat. I heard it from Jason Fung and damn if that didn’t feel like a slap in the face. I want that super awesome autophagy and 37 hours into the fast, holding my coffee in my hand, I realized I just ruined it. So, I hit the reset and started over.
