Tea

I know that black coffee is allowed during the fast, as well as certain teas. What teas are allowed? I’m not much of a tea drinker so I’m unfamiliar with green vs black vs other types.

Black, green, white, yellow, dark, and oolong teas are all allowed. Herbal teas are mostly allowed, so long it has trace calories (<5 calories).

The 6 teas mentioned are all from two varieties the same plant species (Camellia sinensis vars sisnensis and assemica). These true teas differ by how they are dried and the level of oxidation - black being the most and green being the least. Herbal teas are made of up other herbs and spices including flowers, roots, seeds, and leaves of other plants (ginger, lemon, chamomile, tumeric, cinnamon, peppermint, hibiscus, etc).
