Thinking about starting IF

27F, 5’8”, SW: 190 CW: 160 GW: 145

For the past three months I have been losing by restrictive eating and macro tracking + weight lifting. It’s been going fine, but I feel like the fat burning could be better… Since last week I have spontaneously started IF - I started skipping breakfast because I didn’t feel hungry and eat my first meal around 2pm…

Now I think I might try IF by actually tracking it instead of just “accidentally” doing it, but I seem to find a lot of different information online and thought it might be better to just ask people who have experience :)

Do you still track your calorie intake while IF? How do you manage to get all your nutrients in the period of eating? The deficit I am comfortable with is around 1500kcal, but I don’t feel like I could physically eat all of that in an 8 hour window by keeping the food choice healthy… Can someone describe what you do??

Hey there! I’ve been doing IF for a few months now and keep looking for information about it once in a while. Today I came across this video and found it super helpful (actually, this channel is all about IF which is super cool): https://youtu.be/GxcC47QW-Yw

Some folks do some folks don’t. Sort of depends on goals, body, etc. I get away without counting, but I’m also a big guy with a decent activity level.

Eat well. Enjoying yourself from time to time is fine, but yeah you’re trying to get all your nutrition in a smaller window so you need to make those calories count with good foods and not junk.

There’s lots of calorie dense nutritious foods. Good fats, nut butters, brown rice, dried fruit, etc. These will help fill out your calories for the day without needing to eat plates of food.

I tracked calories while I was losing and stopped once I hit goal weight. I fast 18+ hours and have no problem maintaining. Women need 18 hours typically to lose so bump up the time, track fasts and calories, and see what happens.
