Have seen great results fasting 16:8, heavy focus on cardio in the morning with feeding window from 12-8pm. I love working out in the morning.
I’m trying to transition to strength training now during my fasting window, and I want to make sure I don’t lose muscle mass. Anyone have a similar fasting schedule and strength train? Do you have any suggestions on optimization? Thanks!
I prefer morning workouts and would only do morning workouts if I could. I always did them fasted. As long as you’re getting adequate protein in during your eating window, you will adequately feed your muscles for growth. I recommend making sure you are hydrated (water or electrolytes) and give yourself a little time to adjust to it.
I do the 5/3/1 program and fast 16/8. I’ve never gotten so strong that fasting interrupted my progress.
If you go really hard into one or the other then yes they will work against one another. There is a reason that Strongmen are thicc bois.
