This was really interesting to me, about a fasting mimicking diet that includes eating only raw vegetables, but dropping out almost all calorie intake from food. In a sense this is more extreme than juice fasting, and it’s possible that it includes more of the benefits from water fasting than that. Or maybe not; someone would have to become familiar with both practices to judge that. In a sense this technically isn’t fasting, since it includes eating, but it’s definitely a related subject, and interesting to consider even if someone doesn’t want to try it out.
This source is a bit extreme, a bodybuilder / steroid advocate who includes clear description of taking a lot of PEDs, appetite suppressants, and fat burning drugs while undertaking this. Surely all of that is way out of scope of interest for almost everyone here, but still the diet practice is intriguing.
Honestly just water fast… eating carbs will spike your insulin and make fasting more difficult than it has to be. From my experience I feel less hungry eating nothing than eating some food (you will not stop once you start eating and that is how most people fail)
While I’ve zero interest in steroids, fat burning pills or appetite suppression beyond the regular tea I drink, I have had periods of time where I mainly consume fruits and vegetables.
I’m also predominantly plant based, so I’m dropping tofu/beans/lentils and grains on those periods. It tends to naturally evolve over a few weeks in summer.
Functionally, it feels like OMAD sorts of fasting. (Again, I eat very, very little animal product, so YMMV)
Is it different from smoothies or juicing? Yes, in there there’s more fiber than juicing, and the chewing aspect over smoothies.
So higher satiety for me.
