What are the potential downsides of a weekly 48 hour fast?

I am already doing OMAD, so there is almost always 23-24 hours before meals. I’ve been considering simply skipping my meal for Saturday. Are there potential downsides to doing this I should be aware of? What level of muscle loss, if any, should I expect if working out regularly? Should I be taking vitamins on Saturdays to supplement the lack of meals?

I will be having chicken stock for electrolytes during the day most likely, so it isn’t a fully zero calorie fast, more like 10 calories. I doubt that makes a difference, though.

Answer

I did 36-44 hour fasts regularly at the start of the year, where I would skip eating on every Monday. I did this for a couple of months and don’t remember any downsides to it.

I gained some weight during living away from home for a month in June-July and regained some weight due to poor eating out choices, going to incorporate the same routine of fasting at least 36 hours once a week.
