What is the protein cap per meal, and how long between the meals?

I’ve seen a video where there’s told that about 50-70 grams of protein per meal would be absorbed (and used for muscle building?). Does anyone know if this figure is about right, and if so, how many hours should be between those meals?

Thanks for any advice :)!

Answer

0.4-0.55 grams of protein per meal spaced over at least 4 intakes is what the current body of evidence suggests.

Important note: this is in the context of maximizing hypertrophy.

Answer

It’s ballpark; but it doesn’t help much to micromanage. It’s not limiting you in the gym.

It’s ballpark for my daily. If you’re training seriously, double it or better.

I like one meal a day; so 23 hours would be cool. You could go 47 hours and eat double (especially if you’re old), and you’ll waste a little muscle if you try to go 3 days.

Most people eat more than once a day though; that’s fine. But it is an indicator of metabolic flexibility if you can go longer.
