I read everywhere online that shrimps are an excellent source of vitamin d. When I look at nutrition labels on shrimp bags at the store though it says there is no vitamin d at all. Does anyone know why this is?
As far as I know, shrimp has no vitamin D. Googling there appear to be sites that say otherwise, but I’m pretty sure they’re wrong.
Edit: Source
Kudos for fact checking these “health” websites. I googled this website that states USDA database says shrimp has 129 IU: https://www.livescience.com/35136-good-sources-vitamin-d.html
I checked USDA database and don’t find anything remotely close:https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/fdc-app.html#/food-details/1889315/nutrients
My mom used to say: there was a time that all the news say any food cooked together “may” give you cancer. Then she remarked: if she follows all those news, we’d be eating dirt.
Looks like the current trend is: every vegetable has a lot of <insert antioxidant> and every seafood has a lot of <insert nutrients>.
