Blue Diamond almond milk stopped adding calcium and vitamin D to their products

I’ve been buying this brand for a long time and I just realized they removed the vitamin D and Calcium.! I don’t know what’s the reason but they lost a good customer. Look at the old nutrition facts and you’ll see what I mean.

This is actually good news for me. I’ve been wary of added calcium since this report: https://www.bmj.com/content/341/bmj.c3691.abstract

I know the jury is still out on the calcium supplement-heart disease connection but I prefer to get my calcium in whole food form for now and it’s hard to find non-dairy milks that don’t add tricalcium phosphate.

Answer

Do you have pic of the nutrition label? They haven’t changed anything on their website.

At the top of their page they’re advertising a new creamier milk with 50% more calcium than dairy milk and a good source of vitamin D and E. Says coming soon.

Answer

Could be any number of reasons for why they removed it. Could be for purely financial reasons, they just wanted to make it cheaper and hoped nobody would notice the difference. Or it could be due to supply chain problems, companies are just having a harder time getting hold of different ingredients. Or could be something else entirely.

Answer

Good! We don’t need calcium and usually what is added isn’t bioavailable and can cause more problems than it was intended to solve. As for Vit D the amounts are so small they are inconsequential and what is added is often a poor form as well.

Answer

Stop buying almond milk period. Almonds need bees to pollinate. This almond milk craze is requiring way too many bees and they are dying. Making milk from nuts requiresa lot of nuts!! It’s very very bad. Use hazelnut milk instead… Doesn’t require bees. Look it up. I
