My 5-day fast ends tomorrow (Thursday) at 2pm, but I’ll wait until around 6pm and just have some broth for the night. Then, more broth in the morning, and first “meal” on Friday at lunch time. I have plans for the weekend, so I can’t extend the current fast even though I’d like to.
How long should I wait before doing another 5-7 day fast? Can I hop right into another one when I’m back on Sunday night? Or, is there a recommended time period to wait for best results and/or other reasons I don’t know about?
I’m fasting primarily for weight loss, but also to clear up a skin issue.
I wait a month in between 5 day fasts. The benefits of fasting come during the feeding stage. During this time I try to only eat whole food that I prepare myself and I focus on nutrients. I don’t have a lot of excess body weight. I also like to workout and be active which I can’t do on extended fasts. A month seems to be the sweet spot for me.
I’m not a doctor but I personally see no issue. Listen to your body, but if you have a significant amount of fat reserves for the body to utilize- I say it’s open season. Do some research on ketoacidosis and potential measures to avoid it would be my last thought.
